JAVI
ALVAREZ

Javi Alvarez is a New York-based editorial and portrait photographer working with individuals, creative professionals, and institutions.

Before turning fully to photography, he spent 17 years in M&A, growth strategy, and corporate advisory. That background developed an unusual ability to read people: to understand what someone is actually trying to communicate, and create the conditions where they show up natural, confident, and recognizably themselves in front of a camera.

His work spans editorial and lifestyle portraits, professional headshots] institutional and corporate photography, and fine-art portrait exhibitions. His fine art has been shown at Art Basel Miami, ICP at 250 Bowery in New York, and Mirá Art in South America. Across every form, the goal stays the same: images that feel intentional and honest without performing.

He also holds Divorce & Liberation sessions for people moving through a real shift in their life who want photos that mark it honestly.

Born in San Jose, Costa Rica, he holds an MBA and MSc in Applied Economics from Ohio State, and currently splits his time between New York, Costa Rica, and Spain.
Most recently, he directed and produced a commercial for real estate agency, Leven Real Estate

Javi came to the U.S. to pursue an MBA and MSc. in Applied Economics at The Ohio State University. He moved to New York in 2015, where he founded the boutique strategy consulting firm, Alvarez Cayrol, where he’s currently Principal advisor.
